The course, scheduled in the second half of the academic year, aims at introducing students to the principles of coastal structures planning and design with a focus on breakwaters and quaywalls
Learning outcomes of the course are the capability of the student to plan and design any kind of breakwater for harbour protection and to set-up a preliminary design of different types of quaywalls
Classes will be given with frontal teaching with the help of slides

Forces on piles and pipelines due to waves

The exam consists in a discussion on the contents presented during the course
The discussion during the exam will cover all the subjects presented during the classes. Particular focus will be dedicated to breakwaters and quaywalls design and technologies
