The course provides the fundamental knowledge on the evolution, characteristics and geologic values of Liguria, in the frame of the geologic context of the Western Mediterranean area and of the geologic history of the Earth.
Frontal lessons and fieldwork.
Evolving Continents. Liguria in the Africa-Europe geologic contex. The major stratigraphic and structural features of the palaeogeographic domain involved in the Ligurian Alps and Ligurian-Emilian Apennines. The major stratigraphic and structural features of the late- and post-orogenic domains. An overview of the tectonic history of the Ligurian Alps and Northern Apennines. Field trips.
