CODE 67988 ACADEMIC YEAR 2017/2018 CREDITS 3 cfu anno 2 INFERMIERISTICA PEDIATRICA 9277 (L/SNT1) - SCIENTIFIC DISCIPLINARY SECTOR MED/45 LANGUAGE Italian TEACHING LOCATION SEMESTER 1° Semester MODULES Questo insegnamento è un modulo di: CLINICAL NURSING IN THE SURGICAL PATIENT OVERVIEW The course presents the nursing care for children in the surgical area, with reference of the evaluation, planning of the nursing care towards children and their families. During the course the student will have to analyse in an holistic way the needs and the health problems that a child could have. Moreover he/she will have to evaluate from the nurse’s point of view as the main way of evaluation. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES Identification of the caring before, during and after surgery mainly abdominal and pelvic surgery Identification of the intraprofessional relationships in the management of the clinical practice. Knowledge of the scheduling of the education to the patient and the caregiver. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES To be acquainted and be able to use the basic knowledge of the care during the paediatric surgery in the different phases, being able to understand the specific needs and the management of anxiety end pain. TEACHING METHODS Frontal lessons, small workgroups, hands on and guided discussions SYLLABUS/CONTENT Bladder catheter Procedures, protocols, guide lines Evaluation and management of anxiety and pain Need to urinate and move the bowels in the surgical patient Nursing care in Paediatric Surgery pre-surgical (techniques and diagnostic- cultural exams) -intra-operatives: concepts -post-operative Nursing care for patients who undergo: - spinal tap / LP - paracentesis - bone marrow pointing - thoracentesis Manegement of the drainages and the dressings Nursing care on the patient affected by: cardiosurgicay pathologies complex surgical pathologies Neurosurgical pathologies Need to urinate and move the bowls Sterilization cycle RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY - Badon P.L., Cesaro S., Assistenza Infermieristica in Pediatria.
