OVERVIEW

- knowhow of the aspects linked to the physiological adaptability of the newborn just after birth and the care in the first days of their lives.

- care to the pathologic newborn

- care and stabilisation of the critical newborn

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Identify the main caring needs of the mother, of the newborn and of the child and of the different actions to take. Recognize the main emergencies in the paediatric age. Prevent and treat injuries and other critical events int eh child’s life.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the course, the student must be able to:

  1. Point out the dynamics of the adapting of the newborn at birth.
  2. Know the care techniques to use with the newborn in the delivery room
  3. know the newborn’s anthropometric features.
  4. Know and be able to take the vitals of the healthy and unhealthy newborn
  5. Know the nutritional needs of the newborn
  6. Know hoe to use the nurse clinical documentation both in electronical and paper form
  7. Set up a caring process with relative therapeutic plan and educational program
  8. Point out the deviations from the newborn’s physiology
  9. Know the care techniques for the sub-intensive newborn
  10. Know the care techniques for the critical newborn
  11. Know the neonatal stabilization and resuscitation techniques.

EXAM DESCRIPTION

Oral with in itinere evaluation

The score will be given on the basis of the oral capacity and the acquisition of the knowhow

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The exam will verify if the student has learnt what the what the course has offered (problem solving and capacity of oral communication)
