OVERVIEW

Rapid diagnosis of ischemic stroke and hyper-acute treatment with intravenous thrombolysis and intra-arterial thrombectomy

AIMS AND CONTENT

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The student will be able to identify the onset stroke symptoms and to predispose the correct diagnostic procedure in order to differentiate ischemic and hemorrhagic forms, and to know the modern neurological and neuro-radiologic therapies .

TEACHING METHODS

Theoretic frontal lessons including clinical cases’ presentation and analysis of the literature.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

Description of the stroke epidemiology; description of ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke types, neuro-radiologic test for differential diagnosis; rules of stroke treatment in the acute phase; indications and contra-indications of the thrombolytic therapy.
