Choosing the right exam, for the right patient, at the right moment, and knowing why.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Provide general knowledge of the principles and tools on which imaging and radiotherapy is based. Know the principles of radiation protection and dosimetry. Framing the role of imaging diagnostics in the context of different organ pathologies. At the end of the course the student should be able to request the appropriate examinations to clarify specific diagnostic questions.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

- Knowing the diagnostic possibilities of different imaging techniques on the basis of the peculiarities of each one.

- Knowing what investigative technique to choose for each individual patient's clinical suspicion.

- Knowing how to recognize the most typical radiological pictures of major clinical situations.

- Knowing the fundamental principles of Radiation Protection.

The Integrated Course is aimed at the specific knowledge of the own disciplines of the Scientific Disciplinary Sector in order to acquire knowledge in the major morphological and functional alterations of the various anatomical districts. The student will also have to acquire the legislative principles regarding the use of ionizing and non-ionizing radiation sources of significant utility in the definition of the guidelines for reducing individual dose and risk containment. Besided lectures, with compulsory attendance according to the rules of the course, the professionalizing part will focus on the practical learning of the main imaging techniques (Ecography, Computed Tomography - TC, Magnetic Resonance - RM) and their use in the context of different diagnostic and therapeutic routes. This practical training, with compulsory attendance in accordance with the regulations in force, will last 20 hours for ultrasounds, 20 hours for TC and 12 hours for RM.

EXAM DESCRIPTION

A mixed test characterized by a practical test with multiple choice quizzes and an optional oral test. The quiz test will be based on 30 multiple-choice questions. Each correct answer will be awarded 1 point and 0 points for each wrong or unaddressed answer. In order to pass the test you must have answered correctly at least 18 questions.
