The seminar aims to highlight the state of the art of the various types of mechanical cardiocirculatory and / or respiratory support and clarify indications for implantation

Tutorial with active participation of the students and final exam

The history of circulatory assist devices with particular emphasis on the  ExtraCorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO)

Indications to E.C.M.O. for cardiac support

Indications to E.C.M.O. for respiratory failure

Hardware and incarnation sites

Materials for E.C.M.O.

E.C.M.O management.

Patient transportation with E.C.M.O.

Emofiltration / Dialysis in E.C.M.O.

Cardiac transplantation of an E.C.M.O. patient

EXAM DESCRIPTION

Student must pass a final exam. It is an oral examination - only one, connected with the entire Integrated Course.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

Learning verification is done through a final exam to check the real acquisition of the expected learning by the student.
