The course of Clinical Pathology examines the study of the main characteristics of laboratory examinations and the meaning of some types of disease markers measurable in a clinical laboratory
The technological and organizational realities of a Central Laboratory are illustrated.
Provide the students with the fundamental elements about the main characteristics of laboratory examinations and the meaning of some of the main classes of diseases markers measurable in a clinical laboratory
Techniques of the various Laboratory Diagnostic Areas are provided .
Provide the students with the fundamental elements about the main characteristics of laboratory examinations (accuracy, precision, sensitivity, specificity etc) and about some of the main classes of diseases markers (e.g. inflammation markers, cell damage markers, tumour markers) measurable in a clinical laboratory
Lectures, with any possible dialectic interactions with the students
Practice in some clinical laboratory
General concepts in Clinical Pathology (accuracy, precision, specificity, sensitivity, predictable values).
Inflammation markers. Cell damage markers. Renal function markers. Endocrine function markers. Tumour markers

Multiple choice test
The students will undergo a written multiple choice test, with about 35 questions, about all the subjects of the course. Each correct answer will give 1 point. No penalty will be applied for wrong answer. The punctuation will be converted proportionally in XX/30. With punctuations <18/30 the examination will not be approved.
