Biochemistry studies the chemistry of living things and is necessary for understanding the molecular events underlying human physiology and pathology. This course aims to teach the basic mechanisms of chemical and metabolic transformations necessary for understanding the physiological and pathological functions of an organism.
To provide the fundamental knowledge to understand the relationships between the structures of the molecules and their functions in the human organism. To transmit to the student the knowledge of the metabolic pathways through which biological matter is transformed, locating the sites of the reactions in the cell, tissues and organs. To contribute to the training of professionals able to use the knowledge of biochemistry to identify and understand some important metabolic processes that regulate the physiology and pathophysiology of the oral cavity.
