The course is the continuation of the Sistemi Elettrici per l'Energia course of previous year , since the theory of circuits learned from the previous year is used here for modeling the main electric devices.
The course is designed to provide the theoretical and methodological skills necessary for the understanding of the main devices present in modern electrical power systems, with particular reference to the integration of renewable energy sources (RES).
The course, with strong interactive features, is proposed to support theoretical lectures with a large "experiential" part in which, through the use of dedicated software, the student can apply personally what learnt during the theoretical explanations.
Lectures and practice exercises with Matlab
Overview on electromagnetic fields.
The main electrical machines: Transformers, induction machines, synchronous machines
Principles of static conversion in electrical energy
Prodcution of energy from photovoltaic plants
Prodcution of energy from wind plants
· R. Marconato, Sistemi elettrici di potenza, voll. I e II, CLUP, Milano, 1985.
Ricevimento: The students can always meet the teacher outside the classroom in order to ask for some clarifications or integrations with respect to the concepts explained during the lessons, provided that they fix an appointment directly with the teacher (reference phone and e-mail are given to the students during the first lesson of the course).

COMPONENTS AND SYSTEMS FOR THE ELECTRICITY PRODUCTION
The exam will be exclusively oral, after the report of the exercises carried out during the semester.
Pre-requisites :
There are no formal prerequisites, but a good basic knowledge of electric circuits is strongly recommended.
