AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES The student will possess the scientific and professional knowledge that make him/her employable in operations that relate to the design, the construction and the management of ship plants by using reliability & safety techniques. TEACHING METHODS Classes. Seminars by experts. SYLLABUS/CONTENT Basics of RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety) methodologies and their application to marine systems. The lectures will include: main definitions of RAMS parameters, basic computation techniques, applications to components, applications to simple systems, application to the whole ship. Risk Analysis techniques (FMEA, Fault Tree). Rules and International Conventions concerning Ship Safety. Application of the techniques for the design and operation of marine systems.
