During the course research paths will be suggested starting from the study of examples of popular writing (letters, diaries and memories) conserved in the Archivio Ligure Della Scrittura Popolare of the DISFOR. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The course has the desired outcome of analizing how with the happening of particular historical events there is an emergence of xenophobic and racist behaviors while discriminatory and racists politics are put into law. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES Give basic elements (Methods - Contents) for historical analysis meant to the comprehension of the complex nature of the society of the contemporary age and didactic competences to start researches of Contemporary History. TEACHING METHODS Frontal lessons with the aid of audio-visual sources. SYLLABUS/CONTENT Relevant themes of the social history of the Nineteenth century, in particular the history of wars, of historic migrations and women history. Exercises to catch through the sources of the popular writing (letters, diaries and memories) the relation between the great historic events and the life of the common folk. The Interview has the functino of verifying the level of comprehension of the texts of the study course. Written exam for attendees will be through written papers on arguments dealt during the lessons, particularly on the themes of popularistic writings with the usage of sources of this kind held in the Archivio Ligure of the people's writings within the Department. ASSESSMENT METHODS The Oral Interview will test their ability to comprehend the articles and books studied and the quality of their exposition, as well as the correct usage of specialistic lexic and the ability of critical thinking on the studies done.
