OVERVIEW

The course starts from the first level (beginners), but uses translation as a method in training bilingual abilities. Lectures and lessons are in Russian. The active participation of all students (including native speakers of Russian) is useful to improve the communications between students and teachers.

AIMS AND CONTENT

The course aims to provide students with two different classes of abilities: A) linguistics A2-B1 abilities in (order of priority): 1) undestanding spoken Russian, 2) using Russian actively in simple conversation, 3) reading simple texts in Russian, 4) writing exercises and shor texts; B) strictly procedural abilities 1) in functionally translating from/to Italian during Russian conversation and self-training, 2) in acquiring the authomatic procedures both in grammar and pragmatics.

TEACHING METHODS

The course aims to trigger procedurality in the way students react to the input in Russian. All teachers speak Russian, but using short functional translation to make students confident with the corrispondence of each L2 context related unit with the well known correspondent L1 unit. The main effort of the team is to provide students with an effective instruction about the time, contents and methodology of self-training, which is a fundamental part of the course.
