AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The modules aim to analyse specific aspects of historical-artistic research methodology as well as some aspects of museology. (DETAILED) TEACHING OBJECTIVES The course aims to give students a summary of art history from the Renaissance as well as to illustrate and discuss the tools that art historians use such as sources and modern technologies. Particular attention will be paid to the methods of teaching. TEACHING METHODS Lectures with Powerpoint presentations SYLLABUS/CONTENT In the first part of the course the tools of historical-artistic research will be analysed: sources, archive documentation, figurative documentation, historiography, data from technical-scientific analysis and restoration. Subsequently, the history of artistic historiography from Giorgio Vasari to the 20th century will be sketched and possible paths of historical-artistic research will be discussed with particular attention to issues concerning periodisation, definition of styles, identification of executive techniques, examination of processes of production and circulation of artefacts and collecting. The course will conclude with a module (reserved for students that are taking the course for 9 cfu) dedicated to methodologies to study ancient drawing.
