Geotechnics is an engineering discipline wich deals with soil-structure interaction (foundations, retaining walls etc.), Nonetheless, Engineers must interact with Geologists because the latter often perform professionally soil characterizations, samplings, technical testings, other than various soil behaviur monitoring activities on-site and in real time. This raises the necessity that they need to have a cammon base of knowledge on this specific issue.
The main objective of this course is teaching the characterization of terrains, rocks and rock ensambles intended as construction materials, with a particular insight on their effects on the human environment.
