Main focus will be international and European Union source of law. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The course addressed the main rules governing diplomatic and consular relations and functions as codified in international instruments and developed in the practice. Particular attention will be given to topics such as immunities, diplomatic and consular protection, also in light of the most relevant case law. Particualr attention will be given to the European Union as diplomatic and consular actor in the post-Lisbon treaty era. Interventions of keynote speakers is foreseen. TEACHING METHODS Traditional lectures. Didactic materials are uploaded on aulaweb. Students are encouraged to sign in in the webpage. For topics and methods, the course wishes to stimulate active participation from studens, who are invited, under the supervision of the traching staff, to present cases and problematic issues. SYLLABUS/CONTENT The course deals with i) origins of diplomatic and consular law; ii) establishment of diplomatic and consular relations; iii) diplomatic and consular functions; iv) diplomatic cerminials; v) diplomatic and consular immunities and priviledges; vi) EU external action service.
