OVERVIEW

The course initially foresees the study of the zeroth, first and second laws of thermodynamics and of the relationships between molecular mechanics and state equations as a prerequisite for the development of design techniques for the more frequent auxiliary operations in the process industry.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

To provide a basic knowledge of the chemical-physical principles and methods that can be used as tools to understand and investigate industrial chemical processes. Therefore, potential applications will be presented for the laws that regulate technical thermodynamics, fluid dynamics and heat transmission.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

Capability to evaluate the combination of mass / energy conservation equations with the thermodynamic / kinetic constitutive equations for the design or analysis of the most important auxiliary operations in the process industry and to acquire the necessary familiarity in the use of tables and graphics for the most important substances.

TEACHING METHODS

Lecture-based teaching.

Exercises.

Assessing learning achievements.
