AIMS AND CONTENT

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the course the student must:

• know in depth the materials and methods needed to realize periodontal surgery
• be able to diagnose and realize a proper treatment plan 
• be able to clinically identify indications and contraindications to the various surgical treatments
• know in detail the various types of flaps
• be able to apply the knowledge acquired in order to decide the correct periodontal treatment plan
• have acquired a proper terminology in order to plan periodontal surgery

TEACHING METHODS

The course include lectures  and practical exercise performed using dummies.

- Periodontal revaluation

- Principle of periodontal surgery and surgical equipment 

- The conservative surgery

- The resective surgery

- The mucogingival surgery 

- Intrabony defects and furcation treatment 

- Supportive periodontal therapy

- Prosthetic terapy in perio-patient

- Antibiotics in periodontitis

The final exam comprises a multiple choice test and an oral interview.
