At the end of the course, the students will be able to understand the main issues related to geopolitics. They will also acquire a terminology useful to orient themselves in literature; at the same time, they will be able to understand and examine scientific texts. Therefore, they could be able to understand the current geopolitics with contents and strategies, which change with unexpected frequency. They will be able also to explain, and sometimes, interpret some of the main geopolitical themes both in oral and in written form.
Lectures, seminar activities, case analysis also realised through group work (written work and oral presentation).
The course, after having dealt with the birth of the discipline and its evolution, examines
- The main theories and the post-Cold War period
- The geopolitical implications of natural and energetic resources, demography and religions, economy and finance
- The geopolitical situation of Italy and of the other main strategic geographical areas of the world

Non-attending students have also to study another volume or additional study material.

Oral exam
The learning outcomes acquired by the student are verified and ascertained by an oral exam that allows verifying the ability to express themselves dialectically with property by organizing a structured discourse. Master students have also to use a technical language.
