The course starts with the study of the dimension and the shape of the Earth, including its gravity field, also exploiting physico-mathematical methods, with the main purpose of setting up the theoretical basis for the precise, local and global, positioning of its points and of their cartographic representation.
To provide the students with the necessary notions and concepts to make them able to correctly understand and interpret basic geodetic and cartographic results and products. That purpose is aimed at also by exploiting the interdisciplinary character of Geodesy, which rests on such sciences as Mathematics, Physics and also covers the basis for the mathematical treatment of Cartography
Front lessons with the aid of projected transparencies.

First semester
Two written tests examinations during the course, whose results determine, via a weighted mean, to the final exam’s grade; one (optional) final oral examination whose result contributes, via a weighted mean, to the final exam’s grade.
via the two written tests.
