The course aims to provide the students with the basic tools and knowledges for a sociological understanding of the educational processes, starting from some key topics of the sociology of education; specific attention will be set to sociology of schools, with references to the “scuola dell’infanzia” and “ scuola primaria”.
The course aims to provide the basic tools for a sociological reading of educational processes (scholastic and extracurricular). Particular attention will be devoted to the sociology of schooling with reference to the different cases of the kindergarten and primary school. At the same time, space will be devoted to theoretical analysis and the ability to apply the theory to the different school situations in which future teachers will be involved. The aim of the course is the development of the critical spirit and the ability to read educational and scholastic phenomena beyond stereotypical and prejudicial visions and interpretations.
"Scuola dell’infanzia": The goal is to provide the students with the basic tools and knowledges for a sociological understanding of the educational processes about primary socialization, developing the critical mind and the ability to analyze the social context beyond prejudices and stereotypes]
"Scuola Primaria": The goal is to provide the students with the basic tools and knowledges for a sociological understanding of the educational processes about secondary socialization, developing the critical mind and the ability to analyze the social context beyond prejudices and stereotypes
The lessons will be provided in modules, focusing each the main course’s themes; experts will be invited to take part to each module.
The students’ attendance is mandatory and will be interactive: during the lessons, the students will work on the course materials uploaded on aulaweb by the teacher and in working groups. Videos and images produced by the visual sociology laboratory (DISFOR) will be exploited as well

For students attending to the lessons:
oral and written test
For students not attending to the lessons:
only oral interview
Assessment of students’ learning will be ongoing throughout the semester, one test sessions (according to the instructions which will be provided by teacher) and a final written test, whit open-ended questions and test.
The votes of the tests will be so weighted on the final vote: 30% for the test sessions in itinere, and 70% for the final test.
If a student don't reach the 18/30, he must repeat the examination, with oral interview
the examination will consist of an interview ( oral) with the teacher, and will be held during the scheduled examination session
The foreign students must contact the teacher in person before the exam
The students who cannot attend the class, should contact the teacher within the first month of class not later
