AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The themes related to contemporary Italian literature – seen in this case as the creation of Italian collective imagination from the Unification of Italy to the present day – will be tackled with particular regard to the aspect of school environment and to the role of the school teacher (from De Amicis’ Il romanzo d'un maestro to Paola Mastrocola’s La scuola raccontata al mio cane). The laboratory, which is an integral part of the course, will build on a selection of specific texts to get to tackle, through the study of autobiographical writing, the important topic of ‘school memories’ The issues related to contemporary Italian literature, seen in this case as the shaping of “Italian imaginary” from Unification until today, will be tackled with particular emphasis on the school environment and on the role of teachers according to different writers AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES The issues related to contemporary Italian literature, seen in this case as the shaping of “Italian imaginary” from Unification until today, will be tackled with particular emphasis on the school environment and on the role of teachers according to different writers TEACHING METHODS Lessons, closer examination, exercises concerning the various aspects of the program. SYLLABUS/CONTENT From the dream of reality to the mythification of reality. The Italian novel of the last decades and its search for an unstable balance between the history of the world and human stories.The Wotkshop aims to approach some great problems of interpretation and sense of narration starting from the specificities of literary discourse: signification and narration / absence and convocation of narration / certainty and opacity / statutes and procedures of the literary text / information and form in the narrative / literature and conspiracy. Participation in the laboratory is mandatory for at least 80% of the lessons.
