The course of Clinical Pathology deals with the study of the general concepts of Clinical Pathology
Provide the students with the fundamental elements allowing the evaluation and meaning of the laboratory examinations
Provide the student with the knowledge necessary to understand the general concepts of clinical pathology in order to critically observe the values that the analysis laboratory provides. The student will have to remember the definitions of the concepts and the normal values of the most common laboratory tests. Know the utility and limitations of the main laboratory tests. Acquire the ability to choose laboratory tests useful in various pathological situations.
Frontal lessons, with possible dialectical interactions with students. Given the particular health situation of our country, lessons can also be held online, preferably in live streaming, rather than in attendance.
General clinical pathology: concepts of accuracy, precision, sensitivity and diagnostic specificity, positive and negative predictive value. Presentation of some groups of exams and their meaning. Presentation of clinical cases in which the contribution of the laboratory is significant. Appropriateness and inappropriateness in prescribing clinical laboratory tests.
Lecture notes on Aulaweb covering all the topics of the program will be provided to students; support book (NOT mandatory) Henry's Clinical Diagnosis and Management by Laboratory Methods, Elsevier. In any case, an internal medicine text such as Harrison or Cecil is sufficient for pathophysiological and clinical laboratory knowledge.

The student will be assessed through an oral test that includes the entire program of the integrated Medicine 1 course. Depending on the health situation of our country at the time of the exam, it can be done online instead of in the presence.
The student will be examined on the meaning of a group of laboratory tests, pertinent to a certain pathology. The knowledge and definition of the basic elements of the subject must be known for the exam to be considered sufficient. The student may be asked to interpret clinical analysis values critically and integrated into the clinical picture. Conversely, the student may be asked which laboratory tests may be appropriate in the differential diagnosis of certain pathologies
