Cardiovascular diseases are the main cause of death in the developing countries, and the prevalence of chronic conditions is steadily rising. The present class provides the basic knowledge regarding the epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical presentation and diagnostic path of the main cardiovascular diseases.
This class will allow the medical student to understand the basics of the cardiovascular diseases, with a particular focus on the epidemiology and pathogenesis of the most prevalent cardiovascular conditions. In addition, basic elements for the clinical and instrumental diagnosis will be discussed, as well as the rationale of the primary therapeutic interventions.

Oral exam, with the discussion of clinical cases and instrumental exams including electrocardiograms.
The final oral exam aims at ascertain the correct understanding and knowledge of the topics discussed during the class. The student has to demonstrate adequate knowledge of the epidemiology and pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases, and be able to describe the diagnostic path of the primary cardiovascular conditions, with the use of information from clinical and instrumental examinations.
