AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The student will be able to resume and recall the knowledge obtained during the previous years in both geology and paleontology to develop an independent skill in reasoning regarding biostratigraphy and palaeoecology. Large part of this module will consist of the systematics of some of the most important microfossil groups and some brief info on major applications regarding biostratigraphy and microfacies analyses will be given. Communities correlations as well as paleoenvironmental interpretations will be a major quest for the students. A consistent portion of the practicals will be hand on experiences on thin sections and sieved material.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

students are expected to identify most common group of microfossils on a lower taxonomic scale with high precision in both biostratigraphic and palaeoenvironmental settings.

students are expected to discuss and comment several applications possibilities related to the given samples in relation to georesources and high resolution biostratigraphy.

students are expected to gain technical skills in the description of organisms and to prepare reports in written forms with a focused discussion of the obtained results.
