From “classical” iconological analysis to recent developments and new perspectives of the discipline. Definition of tools of enquiry and their application to case studies chosen in the context of modern era artistic production.
The course aims to clarify the characteristics of iconographic and iconological analysis of works of art, outline a profile of the historical development of the relative methodologies of enquiry and analyse specific themes in both religious and profane contexts. This includes a module dedicated to assessing iconographic programmes prepared for churches and convent structures in the area.
