OVERVIEW

The course aims to analyse the main historiographical and theoretical aspects of cinematic dramatisation.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Analysing knowledge of cinematic dramatisation both as a prior form to film and as a regime of autonomous writing; studying the main models of dramatisation that have evolved over time and their structure.

TEACHING METHODS

Lectures with the help of relative audiovisual material on the history of cinema and the topics of the course with seminar discussions.

Given the pandemic emergency situation, teaching will be held online, on the Teams platform, through live lessons then uploaded to Aulaweb. Students are invited to register on the Aulaweb page.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

The course aims to analyse the main aspects of the history and theory of cinematic dramatisation. After the first part which consists of a historiographical and theoretical introduction to cinema scripts, the course intends to deepen the phenomenon of novelization (reduction of a film work into a textual or literary work), the role of erotic cineromanzo, male erotic magazines and other popular editorial products in relation to cinema, with particular reference to the scenario of eroticization of the Italian media system between the sixties and seventies. We will study cultural materials and products, such as the men's magazine Playmen, to trace connections and influences on the imaginary, writing, identity construction of spectators and readers.
