CODE 98936 ACADEMIC YEAR 2020/2021 CREDITS 6 cfu anno 3 DESIGN DEL PRODOTTO E DELLA NAUTICA 9274 (L-4) - GENOVA SCIENTIFIC DISCIPLINARY SECTOR ICAR/13 LANGUAGE Italian TEACHING LOCATION GENOVA SEMESTER 2° Semester TEACHING MATERIALS AULAWEB OVERVIEW Digital manufacturing is the design course for the prototyping and production of finished objects with digital manufacturing technologies. Working in groups, the participants will develop a product concept that will then be created by 3D printing, laser cutting or CNC milling. The course aims to transfer and strengthen technical skills for digital manufacturing through the use of software and machinery for rapid prototyping. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The course aims to provide the basic tools and concepts of digital prototyping for use by the designer. The main software for three-dimensional modeling and the solutions to prepare the digital model for printing in additive manufacturing are presented. The student will develop a series of exercises that will guide him to 3D printing his model. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES The course is also proposed as an opportunity to develop knowledge relating to the methods and techniques of the project in all its phases: from the analysis of the reference context to the identification of needs, to the verification of the technological, productive, cultural and social aspects, to the communication of the project. With the support of the activities, students will have to demonstrate that they know how to manage each phase of the project cycle and that they know how to produce and communicate their project. TEACHING METHODS The laboratory is a space for work and collaboration, in which one learns by getting involved and through confrontation with others and with the job market. Indeed. some theoretical / practical contributions will be provided by external guests who will offer a different cut to each intervention according to their professional backgrounds. However, teaching and learning pass through exercise, revision, according to the logic of learning by doing. Framed within a theme (3D printing, laser cutting and CNC milling), practical exercises will be proposed to be carried out progressively during the semester. An intensive workshop, in May, will be an opportunity to develop the model / prototype and define the drafting of the project. During the course, intermediate deliveries corresponding to various phases of the general thematic project will be proposed, with relative presentation of the documents necessary for its conception and implementation.
