The teaching of clinical pathology aims to provide the basic tools for the interpretation of some classes of laboratory disease markers
The fundamental training objective is the identification of the characteristics of the diagnostic tests that allow their evaluation. Ancillary objective: to present some classes of disease markers.
Knowing the concepts of general clinical pathology (accuracy and precision, sensitivity and diagnostic specificity, sensitivity and methodological specificity, positive and negative predictive value, normal range, decision levels). Knowing the main analysis tests concerning inflammatory pathologies, cell damage and neoplasms, with their main uses and meanings.
Basic knowledge of anatomy, histology, biochemistry, physiology
The lessons are held in a frontal way with every possible interaction with the students. In consideration of the health situation in our country, the lessons can be delivered online, possibly via live streaming.
General clinical pathology: concepts of accuracy and precision, sensitivity and diagnostic specificity, sensitivity and methodological specificity, positive and negative predictive value, normal range, decision levels. Special clinical pathology: markers of inflammation (acute phase proteins and leukocytosis); tissue damage markers; tumor markers.
The course notes will be made available to students on Aulaweb.
