It deals with the systematic study of all diseases that are of interest in cardiac surgery, considering the causes, pathophysiology, pathological anatomy, symptoms, introducing the diagnostic methodology

The goal is the knowledge of all cardiac diseases, their causes, pathophysiology, pathological anatomy and symptoms, beginning also to address the essential knowledge of the specific diagnostic methods

• Ischaemic heart Disease
• Diseases of great vessels
• Pulmonary embolism
• Cardiac tumors
• Pericarditis

Diagrams and notes used for the lessons are provided to students

Oral exam

The assessment takes place only through the final exam which aims to ensure the real learning of the expected outcomes.

To pass the exam students, with a vote of not less than 18/30, must demonstrate that:

They know all the diseases of cardiac interest, their causes, pathophysiology, pathological anatomy and symptoms, beginning also to address the essential knowledge of the specific diagnostic methods

They contribute to the final expressed in thirtieth:

• Ability to discuss and criticizes the required arguments;
• Accuracy, clarity, synthesis and lingustic fluency;
• Control of the subject;
• Adoption of appropriate terminology

The vote of 30/30 cum laude will be granted where the knowledge of the subject are excellent.
