The course analyzes the protection of human rights in the European Union, with particular reference to the Charter of Fundamental Rights.
The aim of the course is to provide students with the necessary tools to study human rights from a legal point of view, with specific reference to the European Union's protection system.
Teaching aims:
- knowledge of the system of protection of fundamental rights in the EU;
- knowledge of the scope, operation and content of the Charter of Fundamental Rights;
- knowledge of the relationship between the EU's system of protection and ECHR and national systems;
- ability to re-elaborate the principles and rules under consideration and to apply such knowledge to actual cases;
- ability to interpret and systematically construe the legal rules.
The course consist of 36 hours of lectures held by the Professor via Teams (access code ywbktv5 ) and Aulaweb (https://2020.aulaweb.unige.it/course/view.php?id=4566).

attending student can take the exam by preparing a paper to be discussed orally and by taking a written multiple choise test via Teams and Aulaweb
For students attending the passing grade will be verified through discussions on the topics proposed during the lesson and the elaboration of a paper. The results can then be further verified during the oral examination. Non attending students: The exam is oral and consists of a colloquium aimed at ascertaining students' knowledge of the topics of the program, their comprehension, the ability re-elaborate the topics discussed.
