CODE 104869 ACADEMIC YEAR 2020/2021 CREDITS 12 cfu anno 1 RELAZIONI INTERNAZIONALI 11162 (LM-52) - GENOVA TEACHING LOCATION GENOVA MODULES Questo insegnamento è composto da: EU LAW AND GLOBAL CHALLENGES MIGRATION LAW TEACHING MATERIALS AULAWEB OVERVIEW The course - in English – is composed by two parts: EU law and global challenges and Migration Law. Aim of the course is to deepen the studying of the most significant global challenges of this era and, among them, in particular, the one concerning migration issues through a multilevel legal perspective, which considers the legal framework of EU law and the solution adopted for its adaptation in the Italian legal order as well as in some of the European States. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The course is aimed at offering to the students the theoretical and methodological tools to analyze and understand how EU law and Italian law (as compared with other European legal order) face the most significant global challenges of this era and, among them, in particular the challenges deriving from migration. Students will achieve the necessary knowledge and skills to analyze under a legal, critical and autonomous perspective the main global issues and, in particular, migration issues. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES EU law and global challenges is aimed at providing the students with the methodological tools and the knowledge necessary to understand, contextualize and analyze the role of the EU as global actor as well as the reach of EU law (also) outside the European legal order with specific reference to global issues such as the protection of the environment, the use of internet and the protection of personal data, the financial and economic crisis, the protection of competition and migration. Migration Law will provide an overview of the present state of migration law in Europe, by focusing mostly on immigration from Third Countries into Europe. In the framework of relevant EU Immigration Law, the course will deeply analyse Italian Immigration Law and Judgements by comparing them with the immigration legal experiences of other EU and non-EU States. TEACHERS AND EXAM BOARD ARIANNA PITINO Ricevimento: Ricevimento: Students can talk with the professor every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. (an appointment by email is recommended) at DISPO, Albergo dei Poveri (Piazzale E. Brignole 3a), Central Tower, floor 3B, room 70. If necessary, meetings with students can be arranged in days and times different from those indicated above. During class-scheduled time (second semester) it is always possible to talk to the professor at the end of the lessons. Due to COVID-19 Emergency meetings with students take place through the online platform team. It could be used also in case of weather alert for lessons and/or exams.
