The course aims to incease the knowledge of the diagnosis and treatment of the most common diseases that need potential treatment in emergency/urgency Guidelines will be provided for the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases and the course will be carried out according to the concepts of evidence-based medicine.
student will be able to recognize and treat emergencies/urgencies of medical-surgical interest (cardiac, hemodynamic, respiratory, abdominal, neurological, orthopedic, psychiatric, traumatic, vascular, hemorrhagic, allergic, infectious, toxic and environmental/accidental physical agents) .
they will be able to manage the initial stages until possible hospitalization and acquire manual skills and immediate rescue techniques and knowledge of the use of drugs of interest in the emergency area.
It's required a good knowledge of surgical anatomy, pathophysiology and pathology of the main diseases which can compromise in acute the vital functions. Good knowledge of clinical pharmacology is required. It’s essential to have the basic concepts of evidence-based medicine and a decent knowledge of the statistics applied to medicine.

An written exam that includes all the subjects teached is held for the entire course. The test consists on 31 multiple choice questions on topics of basic knowledge, diagnosis and therapy in the field of Emergencies. The questions are prepared in order to evaluate the acquired knowledge and the logic skills of the student.
Accuracy of the answers; 1 point assigned for each correct answer.
