CODE 95288 ACADEMIC YEAR 2021/2022 CREDITS 6 cfu anno 1 RELAZIONI INTERNAZIONALI 11162 (LM-52) - GENOVA SCIENTIFIC DISCIPLINARY SECTOR M-GGR/02 TEACHING LOCATION GENOVA SEMESTER 2° Semester MODULES Questo insegnamento è un modulo di: ECONOMIC GEOGRAPHY AND RELIGIOUS INSTITUTIONS TEACHING MATERIALS AULAWEB OVERVIEW The course aims to deepen understanding of the main problems affecting the contemporary world characterized by a high level of multi-polarity. In particular, the course analyses the re-lationship between the socio-economic consequences of population aging and tourism development in the precarious balance of the contemporary world. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES On completing the course in Economic Geography in a Multipolar World, students will be able to critically analyse the transformations affecting the world today and will have the ability to explain the different levels of territorial development, due to an unequal distribution of resources, production and consumption of goods and services, making appropriate use of geographical terms. They will therefore acquire the necessary skills to prepare and defend reports aimed at deepening their knowledge of the more general issues addressed during the course. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES At the end of the course students will be able to: • analyze and understand the main problems that affect a world characterized by a high level of multipolarity using the classical instruments of geography (databases, maps, tables, etc.); • analyze in critical way and explain the socio-demographic, environmental, economic and cultural situations that characterize the different geographic areas and their populations; • argue (in written and oral form) how the aging of the population and the development of tourism may have different effects in territories with very different environmental, economic and social characteristics. TEACHING METHODS Lessons aimed at presenting and studying the main contents of the course through the use of practical examples. The materials used during the classes will be uploaded to AulaWeb together with other materials (reports, links to databases, etc.) aimed at defining the quantitative aspects of the phenomena studied. The possibility of inviting academics or experts in the discipline (Italians and foreigners) to carry out seminars to study specific aspects of the topics covered is also foreseen. The students who attend the classes will also have the opportunity to carry out case studies through group work.
