TEACHING METHODS Classroom lectures and numerical exercises resolution, laboratory experiences. SYLLABUS/CONTENT Overview on electrical machines type and use. Single phase and three phase transformers: operating principles, electrical models, laboratory test, applications. Induction motors: operating principles, electrical models and torque vs. speed mechanical performance, laboratory test, applications. Synchronous machines: operating principles, electrical models, wound and permanent magnet rotor, applications. ASSESSMENT METHODS Aim of written and oral exams is to evaluate if the candidate has understood the operating principles of the electrical machines and is able to solve simple numerical examples. During oral exam candidate ability in clearly describing concepts and using a correct and suitable technical wording will be evaluated as well.
