The scope of the course is to provide the fundamental knowledge related to probability and statistics with particular reference to the context of engineering with the purpose to help the students in facing the problems in a non-determistic way with a shift in the way of thinking.
Fundamental elements of statistical inference and theory of probability.
Mathematical analysis.
The course will alternate theoretical lessons and exercises.
1. Introduction to Statistics 2. Descriptive Statistics 3. Elements of Probability 4. Random Variables and Expectation 5. Special Random Variables 6. Distributions of Sampling Statistics 7. Parameter Estimation 8. Hypothesis Testing

Written exam plus oral discussion.
The purpose of the written exam is to verify the ability of the student to face problems through the use of probability and statistics and the oral exam has the purpose to verify both the knowledge level and the ability to exploit the theoretical instruments of probability and statistics.
