OVERVIEW

The course aims to help the bioengineering student near to get the master degree to plan in advance his own freely chosen master thesis work, giving to him representation of rules and methodologies belonging to scientific research, which is the main characterizing acitvity carried on during the master thesis period.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course aims to provide the student with the skills and tools necessary to create and present a research topic. The course also includes the basic study and the collection of part of the information for the thesis which will be completed during the fourth semester.

PREREQUISITES

3 year Laurea degree on Biomdeical Engineering.

TEACHING METHODS

Combination of traditional lectures (5  hours) and classroom discussion of the project selected by each student (10 hours). 

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

 

Research methodology: planning R&D and Innovation. Work breakdown structure. GANTT chart, PERT diagram. Written communication: reports, theses, scientific journals & conference papers. Oral communication: research presentation, attending conference and presenting a scientific paper. Setting goals and defining expected results of the thesis. Critical activities identification and recovery strategies. Personal contribution in a team work.
