The course provides knowledge on a systemic perspective allowing the successful decision making process necessary during the ship design procedure AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES To carry out the synthesis among the mail technical subjects characterizing the ship design AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES develop the adequate requirements analysis for the selection of the appropriate solution acquire the competences to balance the several needs, possibly conflicting, arising during the ship design compare different possible solutions with reference to suitable criteria TEACHING METHODS lectures in classroom; open discussion on selected topics; application on practical cases. ASSESSMENT METHODS Questions are aimed to assess the capability of the students to discuss about theorethical and practical aspects of ship design. Specific attention will be given to the capability of indicating the basic assuptions together with the input data, the target of the procedure and its rational developement.
