Spanish I as a third language (6 CFU) covers only the Spanish Language Course and corresponds to the Lingua Spagnola I (code 55874) of the degree course in Modern Languages and Cultures (LCM). AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The objective is a theoretical reflection on linguistic phenomena in a Spanish-Italian contrastive perspective. It provides the support of intensive language tutorials aimed at learning Spanish and an introduction to Spanish-Italian translation. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES Theoretical Module (Ana de Hériz) The objective of the course is to provide students with the tools to understand the different linguistic components of Spanish that are used in communicative activities, paying special attention to the phonological/phonetic, morphological and lexical levels, in order to encourage an approach that contrasts with Italian and/or the mother tongues of the learners. Different variants of Spanish in the world will be considered. Spanish Language Course (Anne Serrano, Carmelo Valero & Matteo Anfuso) The 1st year Spanish Language Course aims at a linguistic-cultural preparation at the B2 level: “Can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialisation. Can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party. Can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options”. Introductory translation exercises will also be carried out. TEACHING METHODS Theoretical lessons and language exercises. It is advisable to be registered in the appropriate areas of Aulaweb. SYLLABUS/CONTENT For the Theoretical Module: - Basic concepts of Phonetics and Phonology - Spanish vowels and consonants - Basic concepts of Lexical Morphology and Lexicology - Flexion - Derivation - Composition - Acronyms and abbreviations - An introduction to translation from Spanish into Italian For Lettorato: - CEFR B2 level descriptors. Class schedule SPANISH LANGUAGE AND TRANSLATION I EXAMS EXAM DESCRIPTION A written exam for the Theoretical Module and a written and oral exam for the Spanish Language Course. ASSESSMENT METHODS THEORETICAL MODULE (for 12 CFU): The written test is divided into three parts: the first part evaluates students’ knowledge of fundamental concepts with test questions; the second part allows him/her to apply theory to language analysis with short open questions; the third part monitors the independent study of the bibliography with longer open questions. Spanish Language Course: The written examination is used to assess a B2 level of linguistic-communicative competence through various exercises including listening comprehension and a composition . The last part verifies the knowledge acquired in introductory translation drills. The oral interview involves checking oral expression and interaction as well as the cultural content of the course.
