The course belongs to the scientific field of Sociology of political phenomena. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The course is aimed at providing students with: the specific knowledge through which the sociological approach analyses the main actors, processes and dynamics associated with the sphere of politics and with the sphere of administration; the ability to understand the most relevant contemporary transformations in the reference fields in relation to the ongoing social change; the ability to apply knowledge and understanding skills to other specific contexts or case-studies aimed at critical and autonomous analysis. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES At the end of the course, the Student, who has actively attended and participated in the planned exercises, will have acquired: 1) The specific knowledge with which the sociological perspective analyzes public administration as a process of interaction between civil society and the sphere of binding strategic decisions; 2) The ability to understand the most relevant contemporary transformations in the areas of reference in relation to ongoing social change; 3) The ability to apply knowledge and understanding to specific contexts or case studies aimed at critical and autonomous analysis. PREREQUISITES The basic knowledge of sociology is suggested. For this purpose any edition of a Handbook of Sociology may be used. Suggested: Smelser N.J., Handbook of Sociology. TEACHING METHODS Depending on the epidemiological situation, if necessary, the course will be carried out in distance learning: all the details will be published in this case in the AulaWeb of the course. ASSESSMENT METHODS The evaluation criteria consist of: coherence of the answer with the Commissioner's question, knowledge of the issues addressed, precision and appropriation of the scientific language on the subject, capacity for argumentation and autonomous reasoning, ability to summarize, effectiveness in proposing reflections of the authors treated, synergic use of the knowledge acquired from the texts and lessons.
