OVERVIEW

The Labour law course aims to provide the basics of the discipline on individual and collective labour relations.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course provides students with knowledge about Italian employment law (the legal regulation of the employment relation and of the employment market, the analysis of the legal forms of workers’ participation at plant level and of collective bargaining).

Students shall be able to understand the employment dynamics and the national employment legal regulation also in the light of European Union principles and  labour and social policies. 

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

a) Ability to solve problems; 

b) Analyze and synthesize information;

c) Make judgments independently;

d) Communicate effectively; 

e) Learning on a continuous basis.

 

TEACHING METHODS

The lessons are complemented by case discussions with students.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

1- The origins of labour law. 2- Unions, collective bargaining, strike. 3- Employee and self-employment labour relation. 4- Equality and non-discrimination. 5- Freedom and dignity of the worker. 6- The powers of the employer. - 7. The worker's obligations. - 8.  Transformation of the enterprise and labour relations. 9. Dismissals and resignations. 10. The guarantees of workers' rights.

The final grade is determined by the complex assessments that the jury expressed in reference to the clarity, completeness of the knowledge acquired, the specific vocabulary, the depth of knowledge, the ability to analyze the questions and provide appropriate answers.
