Introduced the first and second law of thermodynamics, thermodynamic diagrams for gases and vapors; direct and inverse thermodynamic cycles; .principles of air conditioning. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES On the basis of the objectives indicated above, at the end of the module the student will be able to operate on thermodynamic cycles critically, representing them on the classical diagrams and he will also be able to evaluate and compare the various system solutions and the consequent energy performance. These objectives will be achieved with theoretical lessons combined with numerical applications carried out during the exercises and the latter representing engineering scenarios present in the activity of the mechanical engineer. From the hierarchical point of view learning starting from a scale of basic complexity (remembering, understanding) and it will move towards higher complexities such as solving, judging and proposing engineering solutions. SYLLABUS/CONTENT First part: Thermodynamics: 1st and 2nd law of thermodynamics open or closed systems (volume control). Energy conversion processes direct and inverse. Refrigeration equipment. One-dimensional thermal fluid dynamics: Bernoulli's equation. Fluid flow in pipes: calculation of pressure drops, and Moody diagram. Compressible fluids flow.
