Environmental accounting is one of the main tools of the European Union for designing and monitoring environmental policies and planning a real sustainable development. The aim of the teaching is to provide students with cutting-edge economic knowledge and tools on accounting and ecological and environmental assessment, also using as a reference the strategies, political initiatives and regulations established by the European Union.
Innovative feature of the teaching is multidisciplinarity: the two modules in a wide range of topics ranging from economics to accounting, ecology and quantitative methods. The joint scientific effort will provide different perspectives on environmental assessment in line with what is required on the job market of environmental experts. The teaching is based on the consolidated collaboration between the Department of Earth, Environmental and Life Sciences (DISTAV) and the Department of Economics (DIEC).
Providing of a general introduction to ecological economics. Statistical methods to carry out the correct evaluation and analysis of environmental goods and services. Introduction on the fundamental concepts of systemic ecology and on the tools for the practical application of computer science related to issues related to ecological economics.
