In today's globalized world, the health professional has often the need to communicate in English with patients and colleagues. The aim of this course is not that of teaching how to read a medical text, but to help to practice Dentistry in English, possibly in a human context different from the one we are familiar with.
To acquire the writing skills in technical English that are needed to draft a scientific text. To communicate in English with patients and colleagues, and overcome cultural barriers, in order to practice medicine in a foreign environment.
Lectures, Videos
The student enters a virtual hospital, meets the staff, gets to know the individual operating units and comes into contact with the structure of healthcare systems in Anglo-Saxon countries. Typical situations of dialogue with the most frequent English expressions relating to health are presented in specific medical areas, giving preference to non-technical but commonly used ones that the patient can use. For all these scenarios, the differences that are important to know between the Anglo-Saxon interpersonal approach and the Italian one are underlined to allow you to establish a relationship of trust and better communication with the patient.
