The course aims to explore the sports world practice and its interaction with society starting from the early 19th century, so as to grasp its educational function in parallel with the socio-cultural context in which it is inserted. Particular attention will be paid to the relationship between sport and education, politics and the international scenario.

Competence outcome: to be able to identify the main historical and historiographical issues, and the use of the relative sources to investigate them. 3. Behavioral outcome: to be able to elaborate a critical reflection on the relationship among sport practice, socialization and citizenship.
At the end of the course the student knows the historical progressions of sport by covering it in history from the 19th century to the present day. The student is also able to:

The lectures will be mostly frontal, but there will be in-depth videos and moments of self-assessment of learning via wooclap.

The exam (in Italian) consists of a written test lasting one hour.
The written test focuses on the topics covered during the lectures and in the materials and indicated in the “Syllabus/Content” section of this teaching sheet. The written test consists of three questions: to pass the exam, all answers must be sufficient. Each answer will be scored on a scale of 1 to 10. For sufficiency, all answers must reach the minimum score of 6/10. The final mark out of thirty is given by the sum of the partial marks of the three answers.
In case of certification of specific learning disability, disability or other special educational needs, the University legislation and regulations on disability and SLD are applied.
Written exam assessment: knowledge of historical events, of the main issues of the discipline and of the links among events are the main elements of evaluation. These are accompanied by the ability to synthesize information and clarity in the presentation of contents. Requests for additional questions to increase the mark will not be accepted. The written exam lasts 1 hour.
Students with “Special Needs”: the compensatory/dispensative tools recognized by the Department coordinator, Prof. Aristide Canepa, and by the University Service for students with special needs are applied. It is suggested to contact Prof. Canepa and the lecturer of this course at the beginning of the lectures.
