OVERVIEW

This course teaches the interpretation of dance practiced as sport. History, styles, competitions and Para Dance Sport.

Dance Sport is performed competitively both at an amateur and competitive level worldwide.

In Paris 2024 Dance Sport will be an Olympic event.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The educational objective of this course is to introduce the foundational skills in Sport Dance.

1) Knowledge and understanding

  • Music: Time and rhythm
  • Different dance styles for different age
  • Elements of Choreography
  • Creativity and rules for judging dance

2) The practical application of knowledge and understanding

At the end of the course:

  • They will be able to use music, timing, rhythm in motor  activity in certain dance styles for different age groups
  • They will have the ability to judge the most significant elements of a sport dance performance
  • They will be able to come up with, arranging and performing individual, couple or a group choreography (show).

PREREQUISITES

Knowledge and understanding about 'Espressione corporea' (bodily expression).

TEACHING METHODS

The teaching consists of 10 hours of training activities

- ADE and Seminars with active participation of students.

Execution of an individual, couple or a group choreography

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The assessment of learning takes place through the final exam that aims to ascertain the actual acquisition by the student of the expected learning outcomes.

To pass the exam, the student must demonstrate a grade of not less than 18/30:

  • To be able to use music, timing, rhythm in motor  activity in certain dance styles for different age groups
  • To have the ability to judge the most significant elements of a sport dance performance
  • To come up with, arrange and performe a group choreography (show)

To the final mark, expressed in thirtieth, contribute:

- Ability to deal with the required topics in a transversal and critical way

- Correctness, clarity, synthesis and fluidity of presentation

- Mastery of the subject

- Adoption of appropriate terminology

The grade of 30/30 with possible honors will be conferred when the knowledge/skills of the subject will be demonstrated comprehensively in the field of Phisical Activities and Leisure.
