The course aims to introduce the student to the effective and conscious use of spreadsheets for the processing, visualization and analysis of data.
The course uses software tools with interface and documentation in English.
The course introduces the student to the use of the LibreOffice suite (in particular the Calc spreadsheet), with the aim of making him able to use Calc to process, visualize and analyse data, such as experimental data or acquired from databases available on the network.
Teaching takes place over 13-14 weeks, each of which normally includes 3 hours of lessons and/or guided workshops (students are required to have a laptop, and will receive assistance to install the necessary software).
At the end of the semester there could be a pre-exam (with booking and file uploading on AulaWeb), which replaces the exam.
Students who have valid certification of physical or learning disabilities on file with the University and who wish to discuss possible accommodations or other circumstances regarding lectures, coursework and exams, should speak both with the instructor and with Professor Sara Ferrando (sara.ferrando@unige.it), the Department’s disability liaison.

The exam consists in the analysis done using Calc of data provided by the lecturer (those who passed the pre-exam are exempted).
The exam verifies the ability to properly use the Calc spreadsheet.
