The attendance and participation in the planned activities (lectures and in the laboratory) will allow the student to acquire the general knowledge of Ecology studies in order to deal with studies in the field of prevention techniques in the environment and in the workplace. The acquired concepts, basic and advanced, will allow the student to better understand the environmental development and problems in order to support evaluation, planning, and processing activities, and the application of the necessary procedures to prevent risks and to defend both the environment and human health.
The teaching consists of lectures and laboratory activities. As activities are planned for the application of the acquired knowledge, practical and methodological activities, attendance at lectures and laboratory exercises is recommended. Lectures in the classroom are delivered through multimedia presentations.
The course program includes an analysis of the structure and functioning of ecological systems and the interactions and processes that exist between biotic and abiotic compartments. In particular will be examined: the ecosystem, the energy flow and the material cycle in ecosystems, the physical environment, the acclimatization strategies and the adaptation of organisms to the environment; the dynamics and regulation of populations according to resources and biotic interactions; the structure and the space-time variations of the communities. Environmental problems and pollution will also be examined in relation to current legislation with a view to conservation and management of ecosystems, risk assessment, human health

The exam consists of a written test. The written test (open and multiple-choice test) is related to the topics and practical activities carried out during the lessons. Two exam dates will be available in the winter session (January-February) and four in the summer session (June, July, September)
Details on how to prepare for the exam and the degree of the required detail for each topic will be provided at the beginning of the course and confirmed during lectures and exercises. The student must be able to integrate the knowledge acquired during the lectures with the skills acquired during the workshop activities in specific cases treated during the course.
Regular attendance at lectures and lab activities is recommended.
