Overview

Introduction

Our Master of Science programme is organised into two study pathways:

  • Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics (AIDA), focusing on the management, analysis and visualisation of vast quantities of digital data for artificial intelligence or data analysis;
  • Reliable and Secure Software Systems (RESSY), dedicated to the design, development, verification and management of reliable, secure, distributed and resilient software systems.

Learning by doing

The programme combines traditional lectures with

  • laboratory work and project development, where possible in collaboration with industry
  • seminars and short courses on selected topics

Career opportunities

Depending on their course of study, graduates may go on to become senior data scientists, business intelligence analysts, AI engineers, cybersecurity managers, technical leaders or project managers in industry or research centres, or they may continue their studies towards a PhD.

The UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

The Master’s programme in Computer Science and its associated teaching activities promote the following goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

  • Goal 4 - Quality education: ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all
  • Goal 5 - Gender equality: achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
  • Goal 8 -  Decent work and economic growth: promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment, and decent work for all.
  • Goal 9 - Industry, innovation and infrastructure: building resilient infrastructure, promoting inclusive and sustainable industrialisation, and fostering innovation.

Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics Syllabus

The know-how and skills required to manage and analyse data effectively are essential for developing technologies capable of supporting decision-making and improving quality of life by creating smarter systems or providing better services.

You will learn to:

  • model, process and extract knowledge from data,
  • manage heterogeneous, complex and noisy data,
  • interact with industry experts and understand their problems and requirements

focusing on artificial intelligence or data analysis.

Course Syllabus: Reliable and Secure Software Systems

Digital technologies underpin every aspect of our lives: from the ubiquitous apps that we all use several times a day, to the less obvious software embedded in household appliances, vehicles and critical systems. Insecure, underperforming and poorly designed software has become a threat to the management, safety and security of our society. High-quality software must be produced and maintained with care, using professional processes and cutting-edge technologies.

You will learn:

  • advanced methodologies for developing high-quality software;
  • techniques for designing and verifying secure software;
  • technologies for distributed, reliable and resilient systems;
  • automated testing, formal methods and AI for software
