SEMESTER 2° Semester

OVERVIEW

The field of urban and rural sociology is concerned with the critical analysis of the relationship between space and social organisation, and its effects on local development, inequalities, and territorial identity. The course examines a range of contemporary issues facing many metropolitan cities, including Genoa and Milan, such as gentrification, the relationship between cities and inner areas, social and civic innovation, and natural and anthropogenic risk. In examining these processes, particular attention is paid to the role of participatory processes and the relationship between local administrations and the territory.
